Stay on the Mallaig road instead of taking the first turn off for Morar village. You will then be on the bridge that looks down on to the house. Take your first left after you cross the bridge!
The town of Mallaig is just a short drive (3 miles North) away from the house and there are numerous things to do and places to eat and drink around the area. Our recommendations are shown below.
Walking:
There are a number of beautiful places to walk around Morar and Mallaig: including both sides of the beach in front of the house, Loch Morar, Strath of Arisaig, Glenfinnan Viaduct trail, Loch Eireagoraidh, Fassfern Forest Walks, Loch Morar to Tarbet and Loch an Nostarie circuit.

Swimming Pool:
Mallaig has a heated swimming pool, sauna, spa and gym which can be found just after the entrance to the high school, next to the football pitch. The pool has public sessions as well as classes, and the opportunity to rent out for exclusive use parties. Please see the leaflet for further details and timetables.

Boat trips:
There are a number of boat trips available from Mallaig harbour, including: One hour wildlife cruise and trips to the surrounding islands such as Skye, Eigg, Rum, Inverie and Knoydart.

The Morar Cross:
A short climb can take you to beautiful views over Loch Morar, the isles of Rum, Eigg and Skye. This small hill is located in the village of Morar, close to the hotel and next to the railway cross-over on the road. There is a passing place where you can leave your car and a small gate which takes you up the steps to the cross which was originally erected in 1889, and most recently renewed in 1965.

The Jacobite Steam Train (Harry Potter train):
The infamous train, which was used in the Harry Potter movies to take the children to Hogwarts, was described as the greatest railway journey in the world. This 84 mile round trip takes you past a list of impressive extremes. Starting near the highest mountain in Britain, Ben Nevis, it visits Britain's most westerly mainland railway station, Arisaig; passes close by the deepest freshwater loch in Britain, Loch Morar and the shortest river in Britain, River Morar, finally arriving next to the deepest seawater loch in Europe, Loch Nevis!

Mallaig E-Bike Hire:
Located on Mallaig pier, Mallaig E-Bike Hire offer the latest in Cube E-Bike technology for an easier way to explore the great outdoors in Mallaig, Morar, Arisaig and Armadale (on Skye).
Camusdarach Beach:
Featured in the film Local Hero, this beach has a spectacular view to the crest of Cuillin on the Isle of Skye, the rugged peaks of Rum and the steep sea cliff of Eigg. With plenty of opportunities for swimming, rock pooling and walking, the beach is a great place to spend a day and can be accessed by driving or walking along the road opposite the house.

Traigh Golf Course:
This nine-hole course is the most westerly course on the UK mainland and is based on a line of grassy hills, with the springy turf of a true links course. You can find this course if you follow the road past Camusdarach beach and Arisaig beach.

Arisaig Archery:
Located right beside Arisaig Hotel, whilst overlooking Loch Nan Ceall. No experience is necessary, and sessions run most days or by appointment. Individuals, families or groups, all are welcome.

Arisaig Sea Kayak Centre:
Kayak tours are available in the local area of Arisaig, offering a fantastic way to see the clear water, sea life and beautiful views the west coast has to offer.

Mallaig Heritage Centre:
Located alongside the train station in Mallaig, the heritage centre provides an interesting overview into the rich history the area has; delving into its people, the landscape, fishing, the great war and much more.

Silversands Pony Trekking:
Silversands Trekking Centre is a small family run business on the outskirts of Morar. They offer the chance to view the beautiful Silversands Of Morar from horseback and can often be seen from the house. The company cater for children 5+ years old with no maximum age limit.
